Accessing Freesco from Playstation3

Postby Spook » Tue Jan 05, 2010 5:04 am

Hi,
does anyone have experience if and/or how it is possible to access Freesco Samba shares from a Playstation3.
Is it necessary to install a special package so that Playstation3 recognizes the Samba shares or the ext2 filesystem ?
Background :
I have lots of MP3s on my Freesco box and would like to stream them from the Playstation3 .
In addition an Icecast streaming server is running on the freesco box --> Freesco 0.3.6
Thanks in advance

Should be the same as accessing a share on a Windoze machine from a PS3, should be howtos for that.
I have no idea though.
The filesystem it is stored on is irrelevant as the share is via the SMB protocol, same as windows shares.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be that easy.
Playstation3 is not supporting SMB protocol and it looks like it is necessary to have a media server running on the windows machines.
Tversity is something I found in the web with respect to that.
So the question is whether somebody knows about a media server that is running on Freesco.
The icecast server that is running on my Freesco machine is not recognized by the Playstation.
I guess in parallel I will check in a Playstation forum as well.
Thanks so far
