3rd Party Package Requesting

Privoxy

Postby strampke » Thu Jun 02, 2011 5:07 am

Could anyone upgrade the Freesco 0.2.7 privoxy-2.9.16 package to Freesco 0.4.x series.
Of course my wish would be to have a newly compiles 3.0.17, but I remember Dingetje compiled a 3.0.2 which didn't realy work well on Freesco.
I made an upgrade from privoxy-2.9.16 to privoxy-2.9.16-0.3.x-ported which worked flawlessly..
And yes it is the only package I ever 'created'
TIA

I have actually compiled 3.0.17 and created a package out of it. The problem is that it seems to run perfectly except it will not get anything from the web and just shows error pages rather than web pages. I am not certain if this is just a setting issue or if it is something in the basde binary that is incompatible with FREESCO. I also ported the older version to a package as well, which does seem to run fine, but it is definitely not as nice as the features in the new version.

If you want to play with the new version and figure out if the problem is just a configuration problem of some kind it can be found at http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/test/ . But keep in mind I know that it does NOT run in it's current setup.

If it is actually a defective binary in some way then I can port the older version for the 04x series.

First think, then act.
In this very place I wrote something about Privoxy working fine on https and failing on http.
Forgot that it is invoked as a http proxy.

Nevertheless Privoxy blocks access, so it must be working.
It must be some kind of Privoxy config problem I guesss.

For the time being: where can I find your 0.4.x repacked Privxy 2.9.16 version.

I remember Dingetje having trouble with compiling a 3.0.6 version.
I am not sure on that as the only package I found from Dingetje was 3.0.2, I had only a small amount of trouble getting the new version to compile. Of course the issue is that it doesn't work correctly. However I am using the binary from the Ratkin package which is version 3.0.3r2

I have NOT tested this package for install. But I have ran the binary on my own system and for the moment the package is at http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/test/

Hi Lightning,

Just for fun I looked around a bit and found your privoxy 3.03. (R2)
Installed it and it works perfectly.
Must have been waiting on your site for a long time for someone to use it.

I do prefer Privoxy over using a long, long hosts file.

Thanks, Strampke

Sometimes people forget the "pkg" command in the 04x series has a search option.
