efax...

3rd Party Package Requesting

Postby _xor_ » Fri Jun 18, 2004 6:33 am

Well, the efax originaly had an executable 'fax' - it's very usable - among other functions it can convert some file types (such as PostScript) to a tiffg3 format - it's a graphics file standard used by faxes - it is a form file should have to be directly sent by a fax.
Thge efax package for freesco does not have this executable and it in fact restricts efax usability to only fax receiving. Does anybody have full efax compiled for freesco ?

Posted similar question in some topics already and asked few people - but with no response, and I need it urgently, so forgive me my nuisance :P :D

If you'd download the latest efax source tarball at <a href='http://www.cce.com/efax/download/' target='_blank'>http://www.cce.com/efax/download/</a> and unpack it, you'll notice that 'fax' is a shell script wrapper around efax.
My only guess is that this 'fax' script is too complicated for the shell that's available on FREESCO and thus needs some "tweaking" to make it work.

:blush1: :blush1:
True, true... just a while ago I've foud it out by myself :P
In 'fax' script there is only alias to ghostscript 'gs' executable, and the conversion of .ps files is done by it - so a ghostscript for freesco is what I need !
Made some searching and one person on this forum has written that he has ghostscript7 compiled for freesco2.7, but he does not answer on private messages.
So anybody else has got it ?

Yes, I do respond to messages... But I need more than 20 hours to reply, after your one and only Private Message.... (it's 1am here, and i'm tired)

I've moved recently, and my ability to check the forums have been limited to lunch time useage. (and anonymous browsing at that!)

If you had been a slightly better detective, you could have found it earlier. <a href='http://peanuts.dnsalias.net:8080' target='_blank'>http://peanuts.dnsalias.net:8080</a> is the PS server in the original posting on the forums here. If you had removed the :8080, you would have seen the my simple web page, and a graphic link to the Freesco Packages I have available (or at least, the ones I use/made).

I've already PM'ed you where you can get the binaries for 027.

<a href='http://peanuts.dnsalias.net/freesco/gs_7.07_talkingtoes.tgz' target='_blank'>http://peanuts.dnsalias.net/freesco/gs_7.0...talkingtoes.tgz</a> and there is no install .sh for 027.

Ok, downloaded, thanks. But there is a next problem - I need only a gs executable - and it requires libpng.so.2. I've found only packages on freesco that uses libpng.so.3. So - have you got it ?

And I was digging some links on this forum about ghostscript - but found only a picture of 2 cats :P

I have libpng.so.3 (and so.2) from the apache package for 027, and it works fine. They are soft links to the ./libpng.so.3.1.2.5 file.

Ghostscript server: <a href='http://peanuts.dnsalias.net:8080' target='_blank'>http://peanuts.dnsalias.net:8080</a>
Apache server: <a href='http://peanuts.dnsalias.net' target='_blank'>http://peanuts.dnsalias.net</a>
Freesco packages I have : <a href='http://peanuts.dnsalias.net/freesco/' target='_blank'>http://peanuts.dnsalias.net/freesco/</a> (may not be on freescosoft yet, as I have no install script for them)

The index.htm comes from the PS server, only the photo of my cat (and my sister's) comes from the apache server, so I can record how many view the postscript web server's index page. The ps 'web server' has no logging of IP or anything.

Hmm, I looked into some apache packages (including that from your site) and there is no libpng.so.2 ! So - if You have got it on your hard disk - please send it to me on my email : romba@o2.pl.

I'm going to check some simple 'by-pass' sollutions - changing of file names of this libraries, etc. Maybe it will help...

They are soft links to the ./libpng.so.3.1.2.5 file

I'm 100% certain that the libpnsg.so.3.1.2.5 file is in my apache_1.3.27_apache.tgz file. The same one that's on TalkingToes site (I've checked!).
If you don't know how to create a softlink, please ask (provide the path where you've placed the libpng.so.3.1.2.5 file)
