Support section for FREESCO v0.3.x 3rd Party Packages

Postby strampke » Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:57 pm

Hi,

Installed 0.3.8 @work
Want to make connection from home with PuTTY
Connection OK
Freesco asks for login -> no problem
Freesco asks for password -> password + enter -> cursor to next row and then nothing

My freesco is behind a speedtouch dsl modem/router which hands out local IP to Freesco. SSH port is forwarded to Freesco.
Freesco is the heart of the local network.

Might this problem occur because the 'external IP' is an internal IP?
Or should I trust network 1 or should I trust dial in connections?

Anyway, my report.txt is added.

I am unsure of what the problem might be, however there are some things to try. The first is rather than using PuTTy, try using the SSH client built into FREESCO to connect to the remote machine. Which I am assuming you are using FREESCO boxes at both ends of this Internet connection.

ssh -p 13852 root@xx.xx.xx.xx

You also can check the logs on the remote machine and see if anything looks unusual. But the actual problem could even be any configuration if the gateway is not set correctly.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

As always Lewis, you have a proper answer.

Of course ssh connects swiftly. (and of course I have Freesco at both ends)

So the problem is PuTTY

PuTTY 053, 055 and 058 connect, whilst 059 and 060 don't.

Thanks for giving the hint.

I am using putty 60 with Freesco 38. check to ensure you are using SSH 2 protocol and I have compression turned off.

PuTTY 059 works here with 041, dialup, fairly standard settings, etc. Will try 060 ASAP.

If there are any settings or screen shots I can attach, Id be happy to!
