This still works in Apache, but the name of the user directory is different between the built-in HTTP server and Apache.

But Apache is highly configurable, so this can be fixed!
Edit your Apache config file (default is /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf):

Code: Select all
# UserDir: The name of the directory which is appended onto a user's home
# directory if a ~user request is received.
<IfModule mod_userdir.c>
    UserDir pub_html

The default name is 'public_html' so edit that as above to 'pub_html', save changes and restart Apache with rc_httpd restart

Also make sure the following line (near the beginning of the httpd.conf file) is not commented out:

Code: Select all
AddModule mod_userdir.c

I am wondering if this change and the PHP configuration URL problem could be fixed and repackage the Apache package ?
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.
