Uebimiau_2.7.8a_phbc50

Support section for FREESCO v0.3.x 3rd Party Packages

Postby LucL » Fri Aug 17, 2007 4:36 pm

I would like to test uebimiau_2.7.8A_phbc50 package. Apparently this link
pkg -i <a href='http://afpercu.hopto.org/packages/03x/uebimiau_2.7.8A_phbc50' target='_blank'>http://afpercu.hopto.org/packages/03x/uebimiau_2.7.8A_phbc50</a>
is not a valid one !

Where can I get it ?

I tried to install it using setup/package/install but I ended up with this error
Unpacking uebimiau_2.7.8a_phbc50.tgz .. Done
error: HTTP error from server: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
Unpacking uebimiau_2.7.8A_phbc50.tgz .. Broken archive, try download/install again.
Installation aborted...

No name or URL.

What does the "frame" version do (or don't) compare to the other one ?

the URL "http://afpercu.hopto.org/packages/03x/uebimiau_2.7.8A_phbc50" seems to be dead...
give it a try here...
Code: Select all
pkg -i http://thasaidon.homeip.net/package/uebimiau_2.7.8a_phbc50

Thanks Thasaidon for your reply !

Shortly after my yesterday's post, I thought I should try a workaround : I then downloaded the "latest" version (2.7.10) from uebimiau web site <a href='http://www.uebimiau.org/' target='_blank'>uebimiau web site</a>, unzipped it and copied the content onto my Freesco box.

I then configured it and it is working fine.

I also tested a fork version of this software called Telaen :

<a href='http://www.telaen.org/' target='_blank'>Telaen</a>.

Eventhough there is an outlook express theme available, it does seem not to be easy to set up and run. (I was not able to make it run in minutes, so I gave up !)

I've been using the phbc50 version for some time now, and it works just great for me. I don't remember having any trouble setting it up either. But that was a long time ago.

woo!

I was able to make Telaen webmail 1.1.3 work using their support forum !

It offers more features than uebimiau and is a lot more secured.

Go for it !

Just out of curiosity, what did you need to do/change to make it work with FREESCO?
I'm sure others would like to know too.

There were 2 problems I ran into :
- smarty within the /usr/local/lib/php (rights problem in order to be able to execute properly)
- I was not able to send mail (there was some settings I need to change within the config file - default mailer was set to "mail" and needed to be set to "sendmail")

Before, I was using NOCC for at least 2 years.

With uebimiau, smarty is located within the webmail directory and with telaen.

Also, uebimiau is reported to have vulnerabilities with no fix and telaen is quicker to respond

You could always use the .htpasswd to secure the folder where uebimiau is located (or htaccess when running Apache).
This way, you need to authenticate before you can even get to the webinterface.
