Gigabit network driver

Postby Lightning » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:17 pm

Thanks to erikjanp we now have a stable and working gigabit network driver for FREESCO. The rtl8169 driver has been around for a long time, but it has always locked up under any kind of load. The new modified driver now works perfectly and it supports a number of chip sets to include the rtl8169, rtl8110, and rtl8111

The rtl8169 chip set is available in a number of brands such as the D-Link DGE-528T and the Netgear GA311. The rtl8110 and rtl8111 chips are common in newer onboard devices.

There may be other Gigabit Realtek chip sets this driver also supports, but without specific /proc/pci information the driver currently only supports the above chips. If you have a Gigabit Realtek chip set it does not recognize then please PM me on the forum with your "cat /proc/pci >/chip.txt" and I will add those chips sets to the new driver.

This driver is also known to work for the Zyxel GN680-T network card also. Thanks to Strampke for letting everyone know.
